Re: Golden Plover
I'm very lucky in that several years ago, I was able to obtain a full Golden Plover skin and also an set of nice GP wings. My advice to anyone who really wants Golden Plover (or even good snipe, moorhen and other hackles for North Country dressings) is to email Steve Cooper at Cookshill and get on t...

Re: Golden Plover
Contact Steve Cooper at Cookshill in the UK. Get on his waiting list and keep the faith. Sooner or later, you might get to the top of the list. Same goes for Snipe and Moorhen / Waterhen. The faster you get on the waiting list, the quicker you might see the hackles.

Pheasant Tail & Plover
Did another article today for our local TU Chapter's monthly newsletter and in going through some old pics, I found a scanned pic of a Pheasant Tail & Golden Plover fly that I tied back in 2009. Haven't tied any more of these since then but will have to add it to "The List" for tying t...

Re: Hare's Ear and Plover
Years ago, I was lucky to receive a full Golden Plover skin from a friend and also a wing or two since then. I love tying various dressings with the GP hackles and I think the GP hackles are one of the prettiest hackles available.

Re: Link to Endrick Spider SBS.
Interesting that in the UK, it's called an Endrick Spider but in the US many of us call it a weighted Pheasant Tail and Partridge soft hackle. I've tied both the weighted and unweighted PTSHs for many years and also include peacock herl, hare's ear / hot spots, etc in the same dressing / same materi...

Re: Pearsall's Thread
Quite a few years ago, I was introduced to Alec Jackson, the famous Salmon and Spey fly dresser, and I was able to order my Pearsall silks threads, flosses and Alec's North Country / Spider hooks directly from Alec as he was the North American importer and distributor for the Pearsall silks from Pea...

Wet Flies on the Au Sable River
I posted this on the "Classic Rod Forum" but think that some here might also be interested in what I recently experienced while fishing Michigan's Au Sable River this past week: "This past Tuesday - Saturday, a friend and I fished various parts of the Au Sable River in Michigan. Nope,...

Re: Dyed Purple Pheasant Tails
Will post pics once I get a chance to tie a few. Have several dyed pheasant tail colors and the dark red, orange and black make nice pt nymphs.

Dyed Purple Pheasant Tails
A few weeks ago, I got a pair of dyed purple pheasant tails. Haven't yet used them but plan on tying a few with either snipe or golden plover hackles ... maybe even a few with grey partridge. Anyone else use purple PTs ? Thanks.
