Dana, excellent photo of caddis larvae.
My version of the green rockwork is my number #1 go to pattern in the early Spring as well.
Have you ever tried the Virtual nymph skins?

Re: Lime Green Rockworm
Ray, they are really simple patterns to tie. For the body i use Virtual Nymph Skin (3mm) in color "caddis Green" that I buy from Joe at Dette Flies. I also have colors "Translucent, Natural and Yellow Sally to represent other caddis larva and pupae. On the larva pattern I use ostrich ...

Re: Lime Green Rockworm
Ray, < cough, cough > mine are not wingless wets and they have metal helmets. The first pattern represents a pupae and the second one the larva. https://wiflyfisher.com/images/caddis/Rhyacophila-caddis-pupa.jpg caddis-larva.jpg https://wiflyfisher.com/images/caddis/Rhyacophila-larva.jpg They work gr...

There are several different chartreuse colored "net spinning" and "free living" (rhyacophila is free living) caddis larva. The key is to get your caddis larva pattern to bounce right along the bottom where they end up in the drift like the naturals. The pattern I use is much simp...

Re: Pritt's #4 Little Winter Brown
Yeah, I know that Pritt's says a "sparse dubbing of Hare's ear" but the way I splash the water, I better use more than just a sparse dubbing or I'd end up with a Woodcock & Orange, eh?! I have a question on the hackle. When using hackle that clumps together like on these flies, will t...

Re: The Fly Fishing Bible of Nymphing
Just an FYI, while up north I tried euro nymphing several days and it is not as easy as it appears in their videos, especially if it is windy. Practice, practice, practice and patients... but when the trout started rising I switched instantly to a dry fly on my euro leader. :D I also found for me se...

Dana, when it comes to hooks you are a porn star!

You love to look at old hooks more than anyone I have ever known and probably own more than anyone else. I thought Bearbutt was bad, but you beat him hands done.

Re: Body Weave Nymph
It was this post by Bill showing off his excellent weaving skills that inspired me to try as well. I decided that I would never be a master weaver like Bill and quickly abandoned the idea.
