Re: Spindrift Pink Killer Bugs

Bob,

I remember the great, long-running discussion on the Bamboo Forum about the various Killer Bugs yarn substitutes. The Oyster (#290) has worked for me too. So much less expensive than the $100.00 Chadwick's 477!

Re: Half Stone Nymph

Bob,

Did you use primrose buttonhole twist for the body, or is it the same
thread you used for the head?

I wasn't familiar with this pattern, but found the list of materials in the
chapter on nymphs (page 106).

Thanks- Ken

Emerging Olive Caddis

After watching Davie McPhail tie an Olive Snatcher, I thought, with a different wing and some partridge, that could make a good emerging caddis. Even though the Sowbug Fly Tying event has been cancelled again this year, I hope to make it over to the White River in Arkansas next month and try this fl...

Where does someone find these Dave Hughes videos that we shouldn't watch?

Re: Wet Fly Fishing (1960 Sports Illustrated Magazine)

$1.00--what a bargain!

My book is in great shape and has a nice, old-book smell. It came from a book dealer in Kinnelon, NJ.
This name (I presume the original owner) is written inside: William P. Mason, Jr; does anyone know him?

Thanks- Ken

Re: Wet Fly Fishing (1960 Sports Illustrated Magazine)

John / Ray, I appreciate the info. I found a copy of the follow-on book on ebay, but someone else made a better offer. A quick search of other online sellers and I had a copy too. DSC01632 (2).JPG The magazine is in the mail to Don Baylor who will use it in his display about the history of Brodhead ...

Starling & Purple (Warning: It has a Bead)!

I tied this today after seeing it during John Shaner's presentation on North Country Spiders. He said he likes to fish it as a dropper in a dry/dropper set-up! Yes, it breaks tradition by having a bead! Starling & Purple Hook: Daiichi 1640 - size 12 (2XS) Body: Pearsall's Gossamer (Purple #8) Th...
