Re: Wing stability
If your talking starch, like laundry starch, it washes out. I knew guys that used Dave's Fleximent and other glues. They smelled bad and didn't work all that well. My wife had some pretty good success with artist's fixative. It's a spray that is used to prevent smudging art works. Pretty tough stuf...

Wing stability
Has anyone tried that Feather Tuff product? I have read mixed reviews and then thought about using starch instead.
Would starch be a good choice to keep the wings in shape?

Re: Must watch video
There's only one thing wrong with that video and it's because it's not long enough. I enjoyed watching it very much. I liked the debate at the end, wet fly vs. dry fly. I can see both points, but I have to say I never heard the point made on the wet fly fisherman better put because I never thought o...

Re: Alfalfa
Norm, I'm sorry to hear of your dad passing away. I know the feeling. Let me just say that you have been a very big inspiration to me and someday I hope my winged flies look almost as good as yours. It's not going to seem right getting on the forum and not seeing a new masterpiece that you share wit...

Redeemed
This year has been very hard on me with work, family, health and more work. This past Spring the Poudre River was difficult with all the water coming down and run off lasting longer than usual this year. Plus not to mention how the mudslide from two years ago devastated everything down river. I read...

That cinnamon wing over the green floss looks amazing.
I really admire your floss and ribbing wraps. They are so consistent.
When you wrap the floss and ribbing, do you wrap by hand or use the rotary function of the vise

The colors compliment each other nicely and you certainly know how to tame the swords.
Well done.

Re: Davy Wotton : Wet Fly Ways :
I haven't seen D.W's video so I can't comment on it. My grandfather taught me to always fish upstream with wets and dries. He believed it to be better in line control and better hook ups. I have tried across and down, swinging winged wets and losing many fish that way. But that may not be the case f...

Re: Prairie Chicken
DUBBN, those are incredible looking flies. I like how the hackle lays back a bit more than what I'm used to seeing.
The orange head really makes the deal.
