Ron,
Great post, and a very thoughtful approach to trout fishing. Once I learned to slow down, observe more, and cast less I caught more trout. I'm still learning...
I hope you have been well.
Best,
Tim

Hans,
As always, a fantastic video and tutorial.
Mark,
Our Genesee River trout would be on that fly like a duck on a junebug!
Very nice!

Tim

Ruard,
Great looking Sulphurs! I'll bet they are a hit with the Catskill trout around the time of our Flymph Gathering.
Thank you for posting them.

Tim

Re: Washing or Cleaning Feathers
I just finished cleaning some wood duck flank and white breast feathers a few minutes ago. Cleaning them is well worth the time and effort, in my opinion. I rinse them in cool water to get them damp, and separate any bloody feathers or foreign matter. I then add some warmer water and Dawn dishwashin...

Those are great looking flies! Jack was probably one of the most creative tyers to ever sit behind a vise. Most of my "go to" patterns are his patterns or inspired by his flies. I had the pleasure of getting to know Jack when I was stationed in Boston in the early 1990's. I was fortunate t...

Re: Up or down-eyed.
I tie up a lot of my larger wets for night fishing on TUE hooks. When I fish a blood knot dropper set up, for fishing two flies (point and dropper, I won't fish more than two flies, especially at night), I seem to have a better hook up ratio when I use a fly tied on a TUE hook. I've been using Gaeli...
