Re: Brahma hen cape vs Brahma hen soft hackle
So with size not being a real factor what makes you choose to go with the cape vs. soft hackle feather. Color selection? While I don't have alot of experience with the cape feathers, from the pics it looks like those sre a bit less webby than the soft hackle feathers . I'm sure learnging that not a...

Re: Leaders
I've found it as pleasant to fish as the Umpqua and Dai Riki that I'd used for years. I use it strictly in fine diameters, and it is always clinch knotted to a loop at the end of my knotless leader.

Re: Leaders
I don't tie my own anymore because knotted leaders really aren't very practical on the weedy waters I normally fish. I DO have a favorite tippet material, however, and that's Enrico Puglisi's PowerFull material. I fish primarily 6X, and the PowerFull in 6X tests out at 4.4#, about a pound more than ...

Re: Without The Ugly Vise
Hi Eric, Can you tell us a bit about that hook? With all the brands I have and use, I've never heard of that one and it looks like one I should know about! Thanks, Bruce C The Dohiku hooks are made in Slovakia. I became aware of them through a couple of contacts and kinda lucked into a very limited...

Re: Without The Ugly Vise
At the risk of being scoffed at, I must say that "clunky" or "ugly" as it may be, I love my Regal. As do I . . . the best vise I've ever used. I bought mine in about 1977 at the suggestion of Gary LaFontaine, and finally got the jaws replaced about 2 months ago. My remark was be...

Re: Crystal Spiders (repost)
I like the look of the spiders. One question, because they are tied on a very light wire hook, how do you get them down in the water column when fishing them? Whenever I tie a softy on a TMC 100 or 101, it seems I end up with a film floater unless I put a fine strip of lead in as an underbody, which...

Re: Without The Ugly Vise
Nice fly, yep good March Brown there. I find that using a clip makes it easier to get the camera to autofocus on Macro. NOT that I have ANY photo skills :D EP where did you put the clip in the end. ? I put mine in my vise, shhhh  I've got a little fly dryer that has two (empty) adding machine ...

Re: Drop Shot - 6a & Quail (warning contains bead content!)
I tied a lot of beadhead softies for several years, and they were absolutely deadly. I always used glass beads, however, never tried one with a weighted bead. This pattern looks "delicious."

Re: Partridge & Olive, Just Messin' Around
Eric, I have yet to get any of the Grip hooks, but they really make a nice pattern shine. This is a nice pattern. w Thanks. I really like the Grip designs as well as the spear on their barbless models. Using them can be problematical because they are so sharp reaching into the ittle box usually lea...
