Tom Rolled wings are not easy, but with a little bit of practice they’re actually not too difficult. Think of think the early Gordon quill.... At any rate, you have winging it down to a science. That fly has all required attributes of a “killing pattern”, as they used to say. The translucence, coupled with variation in shades is something I look for.
One question: is yak hair fragile? Does it hold up well to trout teeth?

Definitely looks like one of Bill’s, POSSIBLY from when I was showing him how to do scotch tie hackle. It was when we fished the beaverkill together, and someone took our picture of all of us with our backs turned to the camera at Cairns‘s pool.
