Re: The Violet Midge Spider.
Me too! Although I never catch fish with a purple fly....EVER. It’s like the curse for me :x [/quote] yeah, I laughed the first time I saw a purple haze too. What the heck is that???? Turns out it was hot from ronr's neighborhood all the way back to the tip of the mitt. Not so much here in the N/E b...

Re: Golden Plover
I was on the Cookskill list for a long time. I found a whole G plover skin listed on FeathersMc for 80 smackers and pulled the trigger. It went into the freezer before I even opened it and when I did, it had been infested before I got it. Not a happy camper... Go with Cookskill but don't hold your b...

Re: Brown Owl Hackle Substitution
Robert,
I just finished reading your article and went out to the hen coop.
I picked up the double laced Barnevelder and was looking at it's rump when...
wife: RICK!
me: what?
Wife: Don't even think about it!!!
She looks close.

Re: Electronic Caddis
John Collins gave me a few of those when he first started messing around with that pattern.
I too have had mixed results but there is that occasional day when the fish can't keep their lips off them.
The Great Lakes steelhead are another story. It shines in the late fall and winter.

Re: Black Marabou midge
William, Do you apply head cement to the thread base before you palmer the marabou? I'll sometimes spin the marabou with a thread tag to reinforce it but it then becomes more of a rope. You guys are killing me. I'm trying to bang out flies for salmon camp this fall and now I want to dig out midge si...

Now that looks like something productive in the heavier riffles of the upper Delaware
The rainbows would be all over that.

Re: Blue Olive Spider
That is outstanding, Carl.
My home waters have been pounded since the pandemic and the fish are now super selective.
I think your BOS would be a real changer when everyone else is throwing dry BWO's
Nicely done.

Re: Tups Indispensable
I would like a sample of the Valla mix too.
There are a few commercial blends I've seen but somehow, the texture wasn't quite right.
Thanks Ned.
Nice to see you back Ron.

Re: Shetland wool yarn
Bob,
I already have a skein of oyster and a few other flavors.
The autumn for caddis and BWO's and paprika for iso's and spinners really stands out.
Take a pinch after a spin in the grinder and hand card in other colors as you dub.
... and nice job on the killer bugs.
Rick

Shetland wool yarn
For those that use Jamieson's, there's a place in Seattle Wa. called Little Knits. They are running a sale and from what I understand, prices on wool will increase soon. L.K. has a nice selection of spindrift but shipping might appear steep for only a few skeins. https://www.littleknits.com/yarn.htm...
