One of my all-time favorites!

Eric - thats also how I was taught to tie them in. IMHO, it make the wings much more durable, not to mention they sit perfectly square!

Yet ANOTHER great thread on FF - every nice indeed!

I couldn't help but notice, at the top of the second page(59) starling is spoken of as "one of the easy winging materials".

Also - a lovely specimen you have in the William Mills snelled fly.

I happen to favor the bivisible, or buzz style of fly -and I fish them quite frequently. Some I use tinsel for the body, others dubbing. I have found when using tinsel, leaving a small gap between wraps instead of using touching turns will allow the hackle stem to sit between each wrap, and afford i...

Sorry about the multiple posts - John is working hard(again)at resolving some issues, so I will wait until we get the "all clear". I have at least two dozen reference pictures to post. And a few of you have asked me for a "scotch tied hackle" SBS - I am not ignoring these request...
