Re: Breadcrust
And I did have a few others, which I gave away to people over the years. A couple of interesting things I did note: a couple of the hackles appear to be dyed blue dun, and, a couple of the flies have clipped hackle - Common practice back then.

To be honest, I wish I knew who the other guys were. And I wasn’t really tuned in to who HE was either! Truth of the matter is I was a clumsy kid, that was disturbing their fishing, and they gave me the flies to get rid of me - that would most probably be their side of the story !

Re: Breadcrust
Havent had a response in my past ten posts. Keep the record going folks. Keep wondering why your forum struggles. Trifly - thats the fella, Ed Rolka. Thanks for posting that link. Regarding the lack of "post responses": Speaking for myself, I don't have much time during the week to get de...

Re: Split-thread spring caddis
Time for a new thread-let’s not hijack this one.
One of the original tiers was a fellow with the last name Rolka, a Pennsylvanian. Look him up....And somewhere on this Board, Ray posted a picture of one of mine.
More later,
Dana

Re: Split-thread spring caddis
I'm really enjoying this thread. I live in far off northern Maine, above Caribou. We have a very healthy Grouse population up here. I don't know that I've ever really seen a 'red' phase Grouse. I always think they look much rustier in the summer and 'gray up' as the season progresses into the monot...
