Re: Today's Experiment - Restoring Grafting Wax

When we cleaned out his barn after he died, I found two gallons of old, unlabeled wax. Whether it was something he bought, or a concoction of ...

God, I hate that hook (it's my personal kryptonite), but you make it look good.

Re: Deer Hair Emerger

I love the DHE. It's one of those patterns that works all season for me, I just vary the sizes; the smaller the better. If I could tie that down to a #20, I could rule the world. Nice tie, Norm.

Re: Fly Library

We share a childhood memory! I think the entire arc of my life is married to a mall and a wood splitter.

Re: Fly Library

As REE said, Maine winters can be annoyingly long. They usually last about 8 months, followed by three months of cold, and then August. It was -14 below Friday morning; winter has its teeth in us and the woodstove is working overtime. No wood stove here. Thankfully, last summer (August 14th to the ...

Re: Sooty Peacock

You might as well have named it 'Aroostook Peacock'. That pattern will produce, depending on size, all year long up here. Wonderful tying; I am soooo stealing this.

Re: Brahma & Blue Fore & Aft

That fly is gorgeous! I picked up my first spey rod a while back, a year or so ago, and this pattern looks like a great addition to my new spey flies box. Looking forward to the new book!

Re: Black Ghost

I never would have thought to tie this fly on this hook; you did a wonderful job. My grandfather loved this pattern tied tandem, I hated it. I followed his lead on the 9/3's, but not the Black Ghost. I really like the idea of adding the JC to this fly, Norm.
