Re: “Three Pheasant Tail” Soft Hackles
very nice, Bob.
Some years back, Oliver Edwards penned an article "Time to bury the bead". This resonated with me, as i am not a fan of bead head flies. They do work, and i do use them. Patterns I do use contain a matte black tungsten bead hidden in the thorax area for weight.

Re: A Small Wheatley Box
Very VERY nice boxes, AND FLIES, of Course!!!! I enjoy using a nice Wheatley box - however, there are pitfalls to deal with. #1 - They sink. #2 - even the largest box does not hold nearly enough flies. Personally I use felt paged fly wallets: they FLOAT, AND hold TONS of flies….. tying tons of flies...

Re: Old Partridge Hooks
Jay - those are very nice hooks……..the model / nomenclature escapes me now. I picked up a handful of boxes years back, and really liked them for certain patterns especially small bivisibles. I have had a couple of in depth conversations with John Shaner(one recently) - he will know!! Thanks for the ...

Re: Making Sense of Hooks
Ohhhh BOY………if any of you realized just how many hours I have put into this subject……. At the end of the day I realized this: certain flies must be tied on certain hooks!
