No, it was not over thought. Your improvising skills are amazing though.
I too like the Fire Orange threads.
Good work.

Re: olive/claret Guides Choice
Dubbn and 12... those are beauties for sure... I will be (as usual) copying those flies at my tying groups session this evening. Thanks for the inspiration. Unfortunately, I don't have a dun dyed hare's mask but I'll improvise  Ronr, pay no attention to the patterns in my photo. I only used t...

Re: olive/claret Guides Choice
You do good work. The Guides Choice is a staple for me. Especially during late Winter through Spring high water. Size 12 is my most common size. It is one of the few patterns I have tyed in Olive that the success rate has drastically reduced. I have no idea why that is. Perhabs gold French tinsel is...

Its pheasant tail on the last fly posted. Peacock herl on the authors pattern.Fishnkilts wrote: ↑Mon Jun 06, 2022 9:36 pm Nice tight looking body. I agree with you on the heads and its something I need to work on as well.
What's the material going along the back? Is it peacock herl?

Very interesting. I wish I had done that. Odds are this will never happen to me again.FlyFisherMann1955 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 01, 2022 6:46 pm Very interesting to see how the different fish were 100% selective to a certain pattern. I wonder if that result would change if you reversed the positions of the flies?

Re: Pattern Specific Species
Where you using a floating line, or sinking setup? Curious to know more about lake fishing from shore. Sounds like an excellent day fishing. I use floating line. All three species are gathered at the inlet for the spawn. All three are Spring spawners. As the Creeks are flooding, it is nymphing movi...

Pattern Specific Species
I was able to access a high mountain lake that is located at about 9,000 feet. I was in search of Arctic Grayling. As is my usual, I was nymphing. I started with a size 16 March Brown Soft hackle, and a light pink egg. The first fish was a White Sucker. It took the pink egg. The next 3 fish were Gra...

I am always impressed that you post more than one fly in your photos. It shows off you skills. Very well done.
