Re: Soft Wings

Hi Otter, That fly is very buggy looking. I would be really surprised if it wasn't eaten by a lot of fish! As to your question, one of my most effective catching patterns that I tie and use for both trout and bass, I've never seen a picture of. It's a Heartwells Hellgrammite. I read about it in a Fi...

Re: Iron Blue Dun V.

Hi Carl,

I looked this morning while at work, but they have just about all of the photo sharing sites blocked so you only get the dreaded red X where the pic's are supposed to be. Now that I'm back home, they both look really good. Really nice work!

Re: Gaucho

Hi Hans,

This one looks very nice. The dark chestnut color goes really well with the black hook. The badger color CDL has always been a killer color as far as catching fish too! I bet that you would probably not have to limit it to just dead drifting either ;)

Re: CDC & Chartreuse

Hans, Not sure at all if it would appear like a drowned dun or not. I do know, if immersed in moving water like a stream, that the hackle would be reduced to just nothing more than the stems that the fiber barbs are attached to. They in turn would stick up against the body dubbing. If a trout would ...

Re: CDC & Chartreuse

Hi Hans,

Great looking fly even though it would look mighty slim hackle wise when wet ;)

Best regards,

Re: "I dubbed Leisenring fashion"

Some side by side comparison pic's showing the different methods and how much different they look would be good too! Wet vs dry would help even more.

Re: Grizzly Umbrella

Hi Hans, What ever happened to your picric dyed pine squirrel? Did you use it all up? I don't remember any patterns that you've posted, at least fairly recently, that have had it listed. I remember that you use to mention it from time to time, and it's in the article over at the Global Flyfisherman ...
