Re: Sh
Nice tie, Wayne; that looks like something Alan (BrkTrt) would have tied.

Re: EARLY SCOTTISH ANGLING LITERATURE
Being a fly fishing history buff, I'm sure you have or have read The Fly Fisher's Craft The Art and History by Darrel Martin and The Colonial Angler's Manual of Fly Fishing and Fly Tying by Ken Reinard. Both deal with loop rods, horsehair fly lines, tying on eyeless hooks, etc. I was fortunate to s...

You know, as much as I despise peacock sword, I find myself loving this pattern. Nicely done, Norm.

Can a fly be elegant and sartorial? I think it can. Outstanding, Norm.

Re: Generic Caddis Pupa
Thank you folks. I appreciate the comments. I wanted to use the pattern today , on the Gunnison, but I had no need to add any weight to my rig. Soft hackles presnted upstream ,upstream with a Mono-Rig, cast to feeding fish and ofcourse down and across. The trout were keying on Caddis from top to bo...

Re: Day Drinking Caddis and beer review.
I don't drink porter normally (but I do cook with it), but if that particular brew migrated to the far off northern reaches of far off northern Maine, I would buy it just on general principal.
...not sure I've ever drank caddis, but I've damn sure inhaled a bunch of the bastids.

Lol, you be you, Wayne! In your defense, I don't think Oliver would have had any issues with how you're catching fish. Davy..., not so sure.
Man, I envy your time on the water, brother.

I'm a long way away from Valla's working water, but I'll buy his book just because.

Re: Generic Caddis Pupa
I may try your pattern, Wayne. The Little Mad is a caddis machine for the entire season; churning out living flies by the millions. But when it comes to the end of the season, I'm always stumped. It's like somebody just hit the switch. It's the tale of two rivers. The Aroostook runs side by each wit...

Mike, You make me laugh friend! It really brightened my day to read your thread because every word you wrote was true! Walt Dette once made the statement (not a direct quote) that chickens are the dirtiest, stupid creatures.....I don't think he liked raising them at all but, it was a most necessary...
