It is a challenge to find feathers in those sizes, but there are good posts on the forum about how to use larger feathers on small hooks. At times, I will use a larger fly as an attra...

Professional fly tiers of the past
I'm sitting here watching the snow blow sideways through the yard and stumbled across this.
I thought the article was interesting, and close to home, so decided to post it for your enjoyment.

Question DUBBN
Did you actually acquire the Widow Web or did you just rifle through
your stash of yarn and find something close.
I do like the larger leggy head on your version.

" He just happened to have an Echo SR 10'6" 3 weight in the shop. It cast very nicely in the snow with a weight forward 5 weight single hand line, but when I switched it over to my OPST Skagit line it became a cannon on long casts, but delicate enough on the short line casts." I've be...

I agree! Mine came about 3 weeks ago and I don't think we live THAT far apart. Gaskell put a lot of research into Cutcliffe and John's contribution of his collection is impressive. I knew Shaner would be at the Fly Fishing show in Edison, NJ and took my book to get his "hancock" to add wit...

Re: Double Magic Caddis....
Very nice, John.
Although this is for an emerger, the video demonstrates a cool way to
create a herl brush in a dubbed loop. I have not tried it with a soft dubbing
but it works great with rabbit foot and squirrel.
...and Happy Birthday!
