Awesome pictorial and pattern!!

What the heck is "Waxed with Shuck Wax"????

John
I'm a little embarrassed to admit that the wax ring for a toilet base works for me.

Re: Emma Variant (Gunnar Johnson Flympher Pattern)

Beautiful pattern. A tutorial even a caveman (me) can follow. A tying station that humbles my scorched earth bench of feathered carnage... Thank you, Ray; your tutorials are a great resource. Your tutorial reminds me that I have a bag full of smallish grizzly feathers that have been tucked away for...

Re: Blue Winged Olive

In Britain it’s not unknown to take a pub break for a pint or two and then have a bit of a kip next to the water you intend to fish later in the day. Now that’s what I call civilized fishing Barry A two pint respite? Nice! I like your style. After the second pint I'd be happy chucking a bass plug. ...

Re: Blue Winged Olive

I'm a pipe and sit guy; I have to remind myself to watch. I'm not going to learn Latin at this point in the festivities. If I'm paying attention I then adjust my tackle to fit perhaps the 'dark green ones' or maybe 'the wicked little brown ones'. Sometimes paying attention is too much work and I'm h...

That was fantastic, thank you. We get a lot of cinnamon caddis up here and I'm thinking perhaps I can swap out a strand or two of the pearl flash for root beer and give it a go.

Thank you, Dana. The steps I invented in my mind while mentally untying one of your flies has now been thoroughly debunked. Thankfully. The knowledge that flows through this place is ridiculous. Thanks to all for sharing. ...as to BB's statement that foundations are critical for a good and proper Ha...

Re: Partridge & Yellow

Very cleanly dressed fly. It may be my computer screen and it's color rendition, but the yellow silk has a slight green tint to it, as if it were waxed with cobbler's wax. Just curious if that was the case. Beautiful fly. No, not waxed. The shading on the silk in the photo is from my fingers. No ma...

Re: Partridge and Blue. Mole colour effect

I tried to tie a blue fly today; I've even got the requisite Pearsall's blue. I sat and stared at the hook in the vise, bobbin in hand for what seemed like hours. I couldn't do it. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow...
