Re: Pearsalls Color Chart
Ah, Belding Corticelli....great stuff. As are Champion, Gudebrod, etc. And Reed Tackle - I don’t know who he bought his cell chrome, but I liked it the whole lot better than herders. I still have a couple of dozen spools in sizes 2/0, 3/0, 4/0, 5/0, 6/0 and 8/0. And yes, the white 8/0 is very fragil...

Re: Upstream Wet Fly
Ollie Edward’s has an excellent dvd on fishing the upstream wet fly - I haven’t seen it in quite a while, but I believe it’s one of his “essential skills” series.....One hi light I do remember is that he uses the hand twist retrieve.

Re: Stripped Peacock Quill Bodies
Dana, your the first person that mentioned stripping the rachis. I have some that I stripped back in the '70's that I have had stored in a jar of glycerin. W.S. different subject, what do you use to thin Kelson's head cement and what is the liquid wax made of I know that odor but I just can't place...

Re: Stripped Peacock Quill Bodies
John-those are excellent videos you posted...... really quite nice and informative. I have a 20 gallon fish tank with the filter in it that simulates current flow to some extent, and it works very very well. I read somewhere in a book that some of our sports older luminaries had done that before and...

Re: Head Cementing Bodies
Mike I collect sap, maybe the size of a big marble. Then put it in a baby food jar and melt over very low heat - pick out the bits of bark, etc. Add just enough alcohol to turn from a solid to tacky paste: the consistency of cold bacon grease is just about right. Footnote- my tying wax is 40% of thi...

Re: Head Cementing Bodies
Once I’ve wound down the shank, I untwist my silk down to the three strands, apply a bit of white pine sap(mixed with alcohol to thin), then apply dubbing and retwist.......it works for me.
