Oversized Softhackle

If you have never used over sized soft hackle on Woolly Buggers, i highly recommend trying it. Rooster Pheasant Church Window feathers, the largest hackles on hen capes and saddles, or those huge partridge feathers some of us have troubles finding a productive use for. No palmered hackle on the Wool...

Re: Great Wet Fly Fishing Video

I enjoyed his fly selection. I had a bit of a "V8" moment. I have never used a nymph when fishing wets. It makes perfect sense to put a nymph on as my bottom fly. The past couple of days I have been fishing during a Yellow Sally Stone and PMD hatch. From 8AM to about 1PM the up and across ...

Re: olive/claret Guides Choice

I tied some size 12 Dun, Guides Choice Hares Ears. They did well on Arctic Grayling, and Cutthroat yesterday. Not aswell its big brother the standard GCHE, but enough I can say it is a good pattern.

Re: Fenwick Streamflex Plus 10' 3 wt and a cast of two wets

I love my 11 foot Syndicate 3wt, and 10 foot 3wt for swinging wets. Super sensitive tips protect my tippet. Easy to cast which is easy on my shoulder.

I am in no manner a wotton fan, but if he advocates euro rods for swinging soft hackles, I am in complete agreement.

Re: Three Spiders

Ray, it was your last sentence that put me over the edge.

"Pretty amazing resource, for the perpetually curious learner/do-it-yourselfer"

Re: Three Spiders

YouTube has been a very useful learning platform for me as well. I’ve learned all kinds of things from there (fly tying, computer upgrades, software tutorials, watercolor painting, car repairs, woodworking, fly casting, fishing knots, etc.). Pretty amazing resource, for the perpetually curious lear...

Re: Squirrel's nest

T12... I respect your feelings about the classics. Afraid I may be guilty of degrading their purity from time to time. I like the way you phrased that. I myself am guilty of the same, though my crimes might rise to 'assault'; I beat the ever livin' shite out them sometimes. In the end, I always hav...
