Re: New Digital Book / “The Flies That Trout Prefer”

Varnishing Over Waxed Thread Head
Leisenring and many others suggest varnishing over a well waxed thread head for a smooth finish with added security, as an alternative to a head of just waxed tying silk (which they say itself is sufficient)... Re: George Schlotter's Henwing Emerger
Great looking emerger! And sbs... The tip of the hen back feather lies flat over the top, yes? Could fish nicely that way for a tan caddis emerger, too... For my swap fly March brown I'd decided on a mix of light & dark Australian possum, too (with some fitch and a little fiery brown & amber...

Re: Oregon? Polly Rosborough?
Sandy Pittendrigh (salmobytes on some forums) has a nice website where among other things he has posted many pics of flies made by many of the greats along with interesting comments and info. Here's his page on Rosborough with lots of pics of flies tied by Rosborough https://montana-riverboats.com/i...

Re: Fly Fishing Poem
I couldn't help but dig a little deeper on that poem, and thought I'd share what more I found... It comes from a book of verse written by John Gay, a contemporary of Swift and Pope, and published in 1770. The subject of this particular poem is "Rural Sports." The Cambridge History of Engli...
