Re: The holy grail!

Since most folks here use a handle rather than a name I'll assume it's for anonymity and not name drop....but a HUGE thank you to the gentleman from the group that sold me the holy grail of hen hackle, a light honey dun! And for a very reasonable price. Pictured with it is Hidy's watery dun dressin...

Dana

Sorry, no light hare's ear. Seems like most of the extra dubbings I've gathered over the years have been dyed / darker colors as (in the past), I've often used light / dark Hareline hare's ear and / or picked the fur off of several masks.

Re: Now What?

Bob - so this thread sort of awoke me from a deep slumber. I have so much crap it’s really astounding….. and recently I find myself in the same thought pattern.….. Believe it or not I thought to list a bunch of stuff on the auction site. 😮😵😳 My only saving grace is, my son loves to fish!!! Hope eve...

Re: Starling skins

Cookshill is being difficult; does anybody have another source for high quality Starling that they could share with me? Thanks. What do you mean about Cookshill being "difficult"? I just checked Steve's website and there's no notation that starling skins or wings are in short supply. Did ...

Re: Now What?

I'll make it easy for you. Pack it all in your MGB and I'll be down with a wad of cash when I get back from Montreal F-1 ! :D Rick Haven't been able to work on or start the MGB since July 2019 when we got rear ended in an accicent (not the MGB- it's still in our garage)! But to be honest, all the R...

Re: Now What?

I was recently thinking the same thing about the 800 odd books I have on flytying and flyfishing…. 3/4 of them are not worth anything except to me… johnno I don't have anywhere near 800 books but those I have are probaby worth a bunch too and I haven't even considered what to do with the fly tying ...

Re: Now What?

For the flies I'd donate to an organization like Project Healing Waters. They could always use the flies. The fly tying materials and hooks, I'd see if there's a youngster near by who wants to learn to tie flies and give it to him or her. Thanks but I don't think many new fly fishers would apprecia...

Now What?

What is an OLD guy to do when his fishing days are becoming less frequent and he has (literally, close to or more than) a hundred bird skins, wings, various loose hackles, thousands of hooks and even more finished flies worth quite a few thousands of dollars? Selling on auction sites would mean quit...
