Re: Oregon? Polly Rosborough?
Another big mayfly hatch on the Williamson is the Black drake mayfly . Polly tied the nymph on a size 10 3XL hook. He also tied the spinner version on a slightly smaller hook. A friend of mine guides on the Williamson river and it seems many fish are now caught on hybrid seal bugger patterns on trou...

Re: Oregon? Polly Rosborough?
I tend to agree with Bill. One thing I would like to add to this discussion is that Polly had a philosophy about nymph sizes . Polly believed that the nymph is always Twenty percent larger than the adult. He also states that “ as we drop down the scale in sizes the disparity grows tremendously. When...

Re: Historic English fly tying styles.
Ron, I am doing the same, digging into the old books again. I find it all fascinating, the history, the procurement of materials and of course the arcane terms referring to colour or shade. For instance Puce for grayish, reddish brown,Azure for sky blue and my favorite Esterhazy for silver grey! THA...

Bill ,
Thanks for posting the different tying styles.
I favor the very sparse Scottish tying styles of the Tummel and the Clyde.

Re: Buttonhole twist
Threads about Tups always get me fired up and the current one is no different. I was going to tie a few with Mike Valla's dubbing blend and post some pictures for those who were asking about it. I find lisenring's process for dressing the tups kind of tedious but I was going to do it his way but go...
