Wait... are you saying Dai-Riki is discontinuing their line of hooks, phasing out certain model numbers,
or you just like Wholesale Fly better?

Re: Top 6 Commonly Used Hen Neck Colors?

I believe he does Ron. Not a better deal going anywhere. I'll second that, and yes, he does include the saddle. I was sorry Charlie was not at the FFS in Jersey last January. Apparently the cost for vendors became prohibitive. He always had a selection of variants that were just a little different ...

Re: Wet flies of Dana Reed (Theroe)

Dana was tying a few of those patterns at Fly Fest 2019 last February.
I don't have the quills he had but I'm having fun tying "Scotch style"
Ray, There's a good chance that the hackle on those are from Darbee too.
( I took a peek at his stash  )

I received my copy yesterday. It's a 1972 second printing in great shape and only set me back a Jackson. :D

Very nice!
Those "Fuzzy Heads" fished in riffles during a Green Drake hatch would be a blast.
Well done Mr. Dougsden.

Re: Lucky day...Is it a Mink or a Weasel?

That is a mink, Dave. The white "beard" and dark coat is typical winter attire. You will see that they do have slightly webbed feet too. Big claws + nasty set of choppers = one mean critter. Take the time to process the pelt as Dana suggested. I have a beige mottled stole I'm taking apart ...

Re: Saving one hook for reordering...

Ray, I stored my hooks the same way until my then young son dumped the box sending several hundred hooks to the floor and rug under my tying bench....oops. A magnet made quick work of the mess but I lost a few dozen that went with the rug. I spent countless hours sorting the hooks and always found a...

Re: My first shad flies - might need sunglasses to view

I was thinking the same thing, Dana. I tie something similar with an estaz body and calf tail wing. Swing them on a sinktip through the thalwag and hang on. We had a banner run last spring on the upper Delaware. Shad were in the Beaverkill and a few were caught in the Willow too. Since American Shad...

Re: body hot-spot scores

Thanks for the size info. Midges often skew toward the tiny, yet there are the relatively huge ones folks tie on #8s. Ha! I'm on the upper Delaware system and we fish a size 4 soft hackle we call the "Delaware Midge" during the green drake spinner fall. It's all in the dark and drives oth...
