Re: UV
I've been following this conversation to see if I missed some of the hype over the years. I agree that in murky waters fluorecsent and UV does make a difference in certain conditions. In gin clear waters, I'm not so sure. To me, it depends on light conditions, refraction, turbidity. I also think tha...

Re: Muskrat Dubbing the easy way
Fishnkilts, One thing I have learned from this forum... Put the rocks glass DOWN before you start reading. The guys at Computer Geeks don't care to clean slobber infused bourbon from your laptop. To answer your question, I would say color is the first reason to keep body sections separate. The belly...

Re: New Book/"The Wanderings of a Mountain Fly Fisher" by Ed Ostapczuk ("Esopus Ed")
I have Ed's new book too and took it to Summerfest at the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum to have him sign it. Unfortunately, Ed was not there but I did get several of the featured tyers in Mike Valla's book Favorite Flies for The Catskills to sign my copy. Anyway, I did enjoy following Ed's ...

Thanks Bill
I just noticed you mentioned that under the photo.
Guess I was too busy gawking at the fly and didn't get that far

Re: Woodcock and Orange
So what did you use for the shell back?
Does it matter if you are putting a finish on the body?
I like the segmentation it creates with the ribbing and looks dead on for a drowned spinner
I'm definitely gonna add that to my spinner box.
Thank you.

Re: Carpet muncher caddis
Now thats what I would call a suggestive pattern.
I read caddis in the subject line, Dubbn saw cranefly in the picture, and I see a cress bug with an egg sack.
Fish that in a Limestone creek that has a bit of vegetation and you'll put a hurt on the trout population.

Nice!
The first one almost looks like it was tied on a swimming nymph hook.
