Caddis were thick. I'd tell you how many I caught but you would call me a liar. The fish posted were the average size.
Caddis Pupa, and a Stone Nymph were the hot patterns.

Just one outing like your average day would make the top of my bucket list. Thanks for the take-along, Wayne.

It is luck to come up with a pattern that is ugly ("fishy"), and have it actually produce in spades. Then to have the trout keying on that "fishy" (ugly) pattern feels kind of good.

We had cold temperatures last week. It even snowed Monday thru Wed. The upper river (where I floated) was clear. I breathed a sigh of relief when I found some special needs fish yesterday that would take my offerings. I am very fortunate to live in a place that has such stupid trout. How else could i catch them on "fishy" patterns?

Wayne - I am just glad you don't smile while holding a fish. Otherwise I would get jealous... ;)

Great day!

Is the pupa weighted at all?

No, the pupa is not weighted.

Ray, I didnt mean to be so glum. The spot where the Rainbow was caught and I was frowning is the put in section for our rafts. I pulled 3 fish out of that hole before we got our rafts wet. I had the Stone Nymph (Montana Prince), and a Hydropsychidae larva on. All three took the Stone. On the first hole I stopped at after launching I took the Hydropsychidae larva off and put the pupa on. In that first hole I took approx. 20 trout. The pupa took two thirds of the fish.

Hydropsychidae larva. Its day will come.
