Dana asked me to share my prince nymph, here it is...
First one I've tied in a while, love this pattern, so fishy. Sorry for all the photo's tried to capture some of the details and getting the body details to show is hard... :?

NO bead!!!

Hook- TMC 700b sz10

Tails- dark chocolate goose biot tails, splayed slightly by a thread bump/ball

Underbody - lead wire slightly smaller diameter than the hook about one third the length of the shank toward the front portion of the hook but leave plenty of room at the eye. I do this to help taper the body in the thorax.

Abdo/Thorax - depending on the fly size and colour I'm after I vary this. This is my go to colour but I also do a darker one using black ostrich herl. Here I've used 3 brown ostrich herls, 1 olive ostrich herl and 3 peacock herls. all spun in a dubbing loop to reinforce them. Wind forward angling the wraps to begin and spacing them apart a bit further to begin with and then coming upright/90 degrees to build a taper when you reach the thorax.

Rib- large oval silver french tinsel counter wrapped all the way from the rear to the front, I aim for 5 wraps...

Wings- White turkey biots, I prefer the translucence they lend the fly, I like mine thinner than most...

Hackle- Grouse or Partridge, grouse on this one, I prefer a full collar and sometimes do a collar through the thorax before mounting the wings. I like one wrap of bare rachis/stem, it ties the fly together nicely with the wing, don't know if that makes sense.

Thread is danvilles flat waxed and I use cobblers wax to finish the pattern

Karsten, you are a true artist. What a masterful tie
I tied up a half dozen GRHE today under the influence of your previous post. Now, seeing your Prince Nymph, a pattern I have eschewed for years... I can only gasp! I am in awe! Dark chocolate biots?! Cobblers waxed head?!
Cheers,
Jim

fly_fischa, Howdy;

Karsten, thankfully I got into the forum while the coffee was still brewing (large sigh),
Saw the white collar and had to re-read the recipe.
"I like one wrap of bare rachis/stem, it ties the fly together nicely with the wing, don't know if that makes sense."
Brilliant! Absolutely Brilliant!

Ok, now for the coffee...

+1 (I believe the youngsters 'speak' like that). It's excellent. The 'one turn rachis' is something willowhead recommended. I have tried it and like the outcome.

the more I look, the more I like this pattern - especially how the shade of the tail(with dark edge), ties into the hackle collar. Really marvelous..
