hook - Mustad 9671 #10
thread - Danville 6/0 black
tail - Indian hen back fibers
abdomen - Uni-stretch orange (looks like the original used floss; none to be had in a town with 3 flyshops)
rib - Uni-stretch orange (doubled/twisted)
thorax - peacock herl
hackle - Indian hen back

mash barb, start thread; wrap to point above barb

strip some hen back fibers, measure (gap width past bend); tie in

double up a length of Uni-stretch, wrap to tail and back

wrap abdomen to 2/3 mark; tie off/trim

Image

twist Uni-stretch loop tight, wrap forward as rib

tie in peacock herl, twist with tying thread and wrap thorax; tie off/trim

prep feather (original called for partridge, but I liked the look of the hen back); fold hackle and wrap

tie off/trim, half hitch x 2, SHHAN

A superbly tied fly, Scott, as per usual.

Scott, Howdy;

Very nicely tied, as per your usual postings ;) .

What with the talk of late being on some hair hackles ... when
I saw the Name "Hairabou" I was expecting a Hair-hackled fly for
some unknown reason. Surprise! :o , . Still all-in-all excellent fly.

Thanks for presenting it.

Scott,
This one is super! I am loving this hair hackle dimension coming down lately! Your pattern is simply amazing and I know it will do well (or maybe it already has?) where ever it is presented!
This really makes my day Scott! Thanks for sharing this great s-b-s/tutorial with us!
