Classic Clyde.

Post by Smuggler » Fri Jul 31, 2015 8:51 am

Lately I've been on a Clyde pattern kick, I'm putting a small box together comprised of a couple standard Clyde patterns. Here's one of the pattern's that made the cut.

This is the Hen Blackie, an imitation for the Dark Olive.

This fly is a staple in the early season for Scottish anglers, and I can see why. Hell, I'd use it every outing. I'm partial to waxed primrose and this pattern just does it for me. Enjoy!

Nicely done! That sure is a pretty little pattern. Striking with the black hackle.

I agree and can see that working all year. Our high elevation fish would love it.
I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

That is simply excellent, Eric. Everything just right.

Looks good to me. What is the wing?

Waterhen. Since hen blackbird is impossible to find. I don't know if it's a viable sub but, it'll still fish I'm sure.

Not bad at all from such a young man. When you have left kindergarten you will be a mean tyer.

For blackbird sub, look here: http://www.flyhookfiller.se/flugbindnin ... 7-110.html

He also has old stock condor and heron, natural and dyed, but I don't know if you are allowed to have that in US.
If somebody needs help with translation on that site, just send me a PM.

Stefan - Thank you very much for the link. I bookmarked it for future reference, and started a shopping list (materials and hooks). This shop carries some hard to find items.
