Dang! That is a gorgeous pattern! I love the color combination and the shape/profile. Is this your pattern?

ScottP, Howdy;

Nice fly, does it smell like a damp dog when wet???
Colors remind me of a Chesapeake Bay Retriever I used live with.

Ray,

Not mine; it's a pattern from Dennis Ross

Hank,

It does look a bit like a Chessie; maybe a bit of odor, but nothing too strong :D

Thanks for the article. I've downloaded it to me iPad. A nice addition to my digital library.

The flies in the article are beautiful. Very "fishy", in the best way.

body - goose quill
The abdomen looks somewhat downy. Can you offer any more insight on what feather or feather part is being used there and where on the body it might be found?

Thanks.

It's a couple fibers from a goose primary feather

It certainly does.

Barbs. Macro amplified the "downiness". It's a nice effect and fly.

Many thanks.

I'm going to have to read this later. Thanks for sharing the link. Excellent looking pattern. That is a sweet profile.
