John,

First off, classically beautiful set of winged wets. I especially love the lovely tapered peacock herl body on the middle fly. Perfection!

I did a quick web search and found one possible site for you to purchase the speckled hen quills. I have not purchased from this site, so I cannot vouch for their shop. Just trying to be helpful...

You may also want to check over on the Feather Emporium website. He sells a variety of wing quills which may be a good substitute (turkey wing quills, hen pheasant quills, ruffed grouse tail or wing quills, etc.). Each of these would give you a mottled wing, if that is the look you are going for.

You could also buy freeze dried hen pheasant wings in the bird dog training section of a hunting supply store, such as Cabelas. I have used these freeze dried wings for fly tying, with no issues. Bug free. Nice and clean. Bone dry. No smell.

John, I always enjoy seeing your flies and these are exceptional. I especially like that last pattern with the partridge rump wing. It's a nice group.

John,
I am amazed at the whole entire bunch of patterns you shared with us above! Especially the speckled wing patterns! Can we see more or your handy-work?
Delighted with your stuff!

Feedback and good or bad comments are welcome.

Thanks,
Two of your pictures are overtop text. Can't read those portions.

John,

I had the same issue with the text the first time I visited your website, but when I revisited the site (loaded a second time) it looked fine. I am using an iPad (Apples Safari browser).

I really enjoyed reading your article, and hearing about that nice trout. Good stuff!

Speaking of good stuff, that winged hares ear is a thing of beauty.

John my Kindle using Silk wouldn't allow your site to open. My PC with Chrome worked just fine.
Your story about using wet flies (in this case winged) is right up my alley. May I suggest a Professor or two be added to your box of winged wet flies?

Regards, Jerry

John ~ My "Grandpa Machine" (PC tower/separate monitor with Windows/Explorer) displays your excellent article just fine. Great looking flies, by the way. And as you state, they do work!

Ray, thanks for the tip. Second time in and things lined right up.
