If you could post the different versions and whatever you know about each fly's history, you would be my hero. Here is a version Rick Takahashi calls the Breadcrust Wannabe Caddis Pupa in his book, The Fly Tying Artist.

Hook: Curved shank (size 12 3XL)
Thread: Dark brown or black
Underbody: Lead or lead-free wire
Body: D Rib / I used micro tubing
Rib: Ostrich herl (Gray) / I used tan
I added a counter-rib of X-small copper wire to protect the herl
Hackle: Grizzly hen
