I hadn't realized it when I bought these, but apparently I scored... I haven't got the knack for tying with them yet.

Other, unknown origins, but the only one that accommodates a Pearsall's spool on the bolt it comes with:

The Wapsi bobbins are very fine -- the wood, the finish, the design, and the steel tube, which has a very small diameter, only for fine threads.

A few years ago I was in Arkansas fishing. I was in a crowded parking lot and putting on my waders with others doing the same. An older woman approached me and said that" God loves you and wanted you to have this" turned and walked away. A beautiful wooden box with a fly fishing picture on it and inside were a set of hand made bone antler fly tying tools beautifully crafted. The bobbin is of the same design as being discussed. About the nicest thing that ever happened to me on a trout stream.

That's amazing, Tom. Makes me wonder if she hadn't lost her husband who was a flyfisher.

I have learned not to question about God's love. For that to happen, just go with it and thank God every day for such a wonderful gift. Those are beautiful.

Well this thread has me thinking. What a wonderful gift; funny how the world works sometimes. I have enough whitetail antler kicking around, it's -10 below zero outside, the shop is heated... it's worth a try. Unfortunately, I think the bobbin is above my pay grade, but a few other bone handled implements might be doable.

under the tight conditions any thing can be accomplished and it appears you have the right conditions!
