Otter,
I'll bet you are right about the leader spinning. I didn't think about that. The only flies I use that I know will want to spin the leader are fanwings and I use 3x Maxima as a tippet when I put on a #12 fanwing. Normally I use Orvis SS in 5x and finer for tippets. The Super Strong is nice and limp, but even at 3x would be reduced to a furled leader in two casts of a fanwing.
Regards,
Reed

Otter, I only intended to use the UV resin thinly on the body, the idea is to substitute for
the celluloid and plastic strip wrapped around it. I would use either polypropylene or feather fibre wings and
a dry fly dubbing for the thorax. I also thought of using badger fibres from a shaving brush for the tails,
perhaps coating the badger might work as well.
Woolleys book is very informative about Spent Spinners.

Aye , I suspected that Donald, Reeds post threw me off on a tangent. Good luck with it, should keep you busy for a while.

Thanks Otter,
If they don't float too well, they could become Sunk Spinners.
