T.U. Fly Tying Material Swap

Post by DUBBN » Sat Sep 15, 2012 12:30 pm

I decided to stay home from fishing this morning. The local chapter of Trout Unlimited is putting on a fly tying material swap at the local Elks Club. It started at 9:30 AM. I was there just after the doors opened. I purposely left the house with only $5.00. Unbeknowns to me, there is a booth there selling material that was left over from a sporting goods store that was closed recently.

In the first picture is all the loot I bought for 5 dollars. The hooks were 4 dollars for a 100 count package. The rest of the items were sold as "ANY 10 ITEMS FOR $1.00". Amongst the items are a Black, and two ultra light Cream colored India (I think) Hen Capes. Also two Partridge wings.

I am home now, and I just reloaded my wallet with cash. I am going to buy more capes, and more hooks. They are in giant mixed up bins, so I have to spend a little time finding the hooks I want in the 100's of different boxes.

Feathers are the same way..1,000's of hen, duck, marabou, etc... all mixed up (packages).

I think this is Partridge.

Now that is the kind of deal I have been waiting a lifetime to find........ well done! :D :D

All you did wrong was on the second trip you should have taken a large angry looking dog and your cheque book.
The dog to keep other buyers away and the cheque book so you could buy the entire stock and sell it cut-rate to all us other forum members. ;) :D

Come to Colorado and pick em up. I will provide the beer, flies, and equipment. Only one provision. I get to be designated drinker! ;)
