Hackle Walking

Post by chase creek » Thu Jan 17, 2013 6:30 pm

Here's a couple of flymphs with the hackle wrapped two turns behind the head, then walked back thru the thorax. I like this method a lot - very buggy.

CC, Nice looking bugs there, Buddy. I like that hackling method myself and use it often.

Rodger, your thorax hackle is really nicely done. Does make a very compelling bug. These are awesome.

You had me thinking here with the term Hackle Walking. Hadn't heard that one before. Such an informative site here I learn something new most every day.

DANG nice flies! :o Very attractive, in a buggy sort of way. I'd fish these in a heartbeat.

Those came out really nice. I use that method for a few specific purposes. I almost always use it for imitating stoneflies. It gives a little buggier, leggy look with that extended carapace you see on stoneflies. I also use it with genetic hen hackle capes on flymphs that I might want to....shhhhh...put a little floatant on....and fish on or in the surface.
I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.
