Howdy All;

Bear in mind that I live in what some would consider to be a confined space ...
What do you use for storage of thread and other spooled materials. Zip-lock bags
are not doing the job any longer. Most things I see when doing a search show
those really nice racks that "in a perfect World" would be fine. I require something
that can be easily packed away or mover from the "Live-in RV to the smaller Fish Camp
trailer. Any and all suggestions will be equally considered.

Poke your head in the nearest sewing shop. They are the prime thread storage outlets I shop at. At fly shops I look for the tyers tubes. See spool storage tubes at https://shop.dan-bailey.com/Via/index.jsp

, you're funny. Next time I go the 60 miles to Las Cruces, I'll try to locate a sewing shop.
If there isn't one there I'll wait till I drive the 160 miles to Albuquerque. Lots of folks forget I
have to travel quit a ways to get to "Nowhere" let alone "Somewhere" and getting to "There" from
"Here" is a definite impossibility... , .

I use the Uni- thread towers, available from Feather-Craft. I have three of them, two I have had for about 12 years the third I just bought a few months ago. The older towers were made of wood. The new one is snap together plastic.

The reason I'm asking is I'm attempting to be able to set-up some sort of semi-fixed
tying area. Being as the RV is cramped (at best), and the table acts as desk, tying
table, and for each meal it is the most used space followed by the bed. For me to
set-up for tying I need to clear all the "Office" equipment and stacks of note cards
that I tend to use for reference notes recipes and other stuff. Then it's find all the
items I need to tye a fly. When I'm done I need to repack it all back so I can eat a
meal or go back to office mode. So, I'm trying to streamline the shifting from one
mode to the other. All these small things lead to an easier transition and hopefully
better tying.

I use the plastic thread tubes and a cheap wood rack from Walmart attached to the wall over my desk. I think most of the best products have been shown already.

I'm going to recommend something for you. It is a bit expensive however. I have an older version that I tied out of for years and still use when I travel. It has held up extremely well. I have had it for 15 years now and nothing is worn out. All the plastic bags etc still in excellent condition. We lived out of a trailer for months (4 of us) when we first moved to our location now. This was perfect. There is no doubt it will hold everything you need and some. They say it is a travel kit but, it holds a ton and I know from experience, you could get everything in it. Plus you can grab and go when you travel anywhere and everything goes with you. Anyway, more than a thread holder...

Think you may have something there ... . You are right about it being a tad spendy
but when you figure it might out last me then that takes some of the sting out of it.
My Pop used to figure out how good of a deal was whenever he bought a car by
figuring out the price/lb. ... I look for longevity.
