paparex, Howdy;

Think I may have found the sentence that has you 'bumfuggled'. ( http://www.collinsdictionary.com/submis ... bumfuggled )
It's in the first post on pg.4 of the second link;
UCSteve "The fly in Lance's photo is clearly built from the black/bronze tail band & white tip."
the photo referred to is on pg.3. The feather in question is a Turkey Tail feather not a chicken.
Perhaps your post op. medications were responsible for the mix-up. If it were me that's where
I'd shove the blame ... :lol:

Rex,

You sound as tough as my Dad. Several years ago, he fell and broke his hip while clearing his yard. This happened in early September. Surgery, screws, plates, healing, etc. By November, he was out wrestling with his snow blower. Tough bird.

As my friend from Texas would say, "You're as tough as boiled owl."

Hank,
As you and I are children of the 60's I think I might understand your reference to "post-op" medications. I am most appreciative of the science and medicine behind pain relief or joint replacement surgery would not be possible. However, in rereading the article, here from page 18 of the Summer 2016 edition of Fly Fishing and Fly Tying Journal by Steve Bird describes the Knekestorparen

Hook: Size 12-18 Mustard 3906B, or standard wetfly hook of your choice
Thread: Black or brown
Body: White/buff tipped mottled turkey tail swords
Hackle: Natural bronze/black hen

I have decided that natural black hen is really very dark brown and the underside (convex) has a brown/bronze tint to it. Therefore my conclusion is a natural black, not dyed black, hen fits the description.

paparex, Howdy;

Ok, happy tying, let us know how it works for you.

Ps. I had my R knee replaced in '03 and was a bit loopy for the first few days
after I left the Hosp. I didn't take any more pain meds after that and it was still
about a week before whatever they pumped me full of was hangin' around finally
cleared ... when they were setting up the morphine drip they over did it and I
was told later I turned a nice 'Smurf' Blue for a few moments ... :roll:
