I had a few minutes last week to get away from the "Football Thing" and test a some thoughts I had during the week. It seems that there are some possibilities to spice it up.
I had a shoelace from one of the boys in my hand during practice and it wound up getting spun tight, Tried to think of some materials I had around that might be able to be used to create a ribbed abdomen and this is the result.
Abdomen..Cream Congo Hair
Thorax... Natural Dark Beaver (Thanks to Josh for giving me a chunk of his pelt used for bow string silencers)
Collar.. Brown Hen Saddle
Tread.... Danville Tan 8/0
Hook... I think one of J. Stockard house #16
Hope to fish these soon during one of my "Up North" Bird Hunting trips in the next few weeks.

I like those earth tones. Maybe the fish will, too.

Twisted Congo Hair? That is brilliant! (#headslap - wish I had thought of that)
Dave - Thank you for sharing this with us, and the inspiring idea for the twisted Congo hair abdomen. Great stuff. It so nice to see a new member posting flies and sharing ideas. Love it!

Those look quite caddis-like to me, Dave. Nice work.
