*** sorry for the non traditional thread but I didn’t think I would get a smooth quill body using a traditional silk thread. I think this is really more of a tiny flymph than a spider.

Polish quills?
I picked up a few packs last fall to play with but haven't done so.

Thanks RickA. Yes Polish Quills. Very handy and the quills seem to be
better than what I could achieve with a pencil erasure for years.

The quill body is superb, and very attractive pattern.

I would not, however consider this to be a flymph. Generally, flymphs have dubbed bodies (fur dubbing spun on silk thread) rather than streamlined quill bodies. Please do not take my comment as criticism. I do not mean it that way at all. Simply providing a general comment on the nature of flymph body construction.

Keep posting these great patterns. You do nice work, and I enjoy seeing them and being inspired.

Yes Ray you’re right. In general flymphs are dubbed. I’m new to the game. So perhaps an elongated wet
fly. Thanks for the compliments. Quill bodies are always a crap shoot for me.

I think you did well with your quill body work! It looks great! I like the way the fly looks overall! It looks vintage...in a good way! The TMC 200R has the graceful curve to accentuate that look! I like this one very much! Have you soaked it in your favorite trout waters yet?

Thanks Dougsden. Haven’t fished it yet as this has been the year of injuries for me but looking forward to the spring with the same anticipation of getting a shot or two in the arm.
