Two flies from Tie2fish

Post by Ruard » Mon Nov 22, 2010 2:44 am

These two flies are from Tie2 fish I only make the pictures and put these to the forum:

A Tups and an Enhanced Orange Fishhawk

I usually fish my wet flies in a cast of two, and use a tippet ring to attach the dropper fly 14-16" above the point fly. I use a WF floating fly line and a 9 foot leader tapered to 5X. In the clear water of my home stream, I add two or three feet more of 5X tippet down to the dropper, and from there to the point it's usually 6X tippet. My rod of choice is a 9 foot 5 wt graphite. This is probably more stiff than most folks like for wet flies, but it works well for me.
Due to the varied structure of my home stream, I vary my casting tactics quite often. Sometimes it's across and down, sometimes it's directly upstream on a short line, and sometimes it's just whatever it takes to get the flies in front of a feeding fish at that moment.

Ruard,tie2,
Both flies are super. The Orange Fish Hawk came to me via Bergman's book Trout. It has been, along with the Tup's a very productive fly. Like the Tup's it is also tied dry, and according to Ray Bergman, one of the few flies he used that would catch any species of trout.

Thank you, Ruard, for being good enough to photograph and post these for me.

Dearest Bill and a special thanks to Ruard,
These Patterns are fantastic! My favorite of the two? The Enhanced Orange Fishhawk. You know that I have always been a great Tups fan and yours is beautiful. Dang it Bill....why do we have to make these tough decisions? I guess the only solution is to have you post more of your patterns! What do you say?
Nice work gentlemen! Ruard, great photographic work!
