Things Horses Eat

As I was feeding my horses this morning, I realized Hans wasn't the only one who could tie flies using his recycling... :)

Hay and Carrots

Hook-Kamasan B175 #10-16
Thread-Chestnut Pearsall's
Rib-Fine copper wire
Body-Plastic bailing twine (two or three strands separated and twisted and frayed with a stiff brush)
Thorax-"hay" dyed peacock herl
Hackle- Golden plover throat or shoulder-just below the throat

Sorry about the blurriness, this is an alternate take on "Hay and Carrots" with the bailing twine laid flat instead of twisted.

Very cool! I like the version with the smooth body better (just my opinion). Great creativity.

Thanks Ray. My wife and I agreed that the twine flat was a better body. I'm glad you concur. If you can think of anything more hay colored than the plover, let me know! :D
