Sharpie Dressed Caddis
Hook - Tiemco/TMC Model 2487 (Size 10) Caddis Pupa Hook (Thanks John/CreationBear)
Underbody - UNI-Stretch (Orange)
Abdomen - Fly Tying Dungeon Baby Legs Alive stretchable floss (Creamy Yellow)
Thread - 8/0 UNI-Thread (Orange)
Throrax - Awesome 'Possom Nymph Dubbing (Rich Brown)
Hackle - Honey Dun Hen Neck Hackle (Natural)
After the fly was finished, the back of the fly was colored with a couple Sharpie permanent markers. First brown was run down the back (top half only). Once that had dried, small dots were made with a black Sharpie marker to add additional segmentation. Obviously the color variation could be infinite. Have fun.
Here is a photo of the same fly, as viewed from the bottom.

My kind of fly. Flawlessly tied. And the photo! Would you mind elaborate a bit on that?

My gosh Ray. You kicked the caddis/ sharpie technique up a couple knotches. Just before I went to bed last night I read your post saying you were using the "Sharpie" technique. I chuckled to myself and muttered, "Silly Ray, just run a Sharpie down the back of the fly. I've been doing that for years." No, you have to go and use TWO colors on the back. I saw your pattern and had a V8 moment. I slapped my forhead and asked myself why I hadnt thought of that!
That pattern should be named the DDG caddis (Drop Dead Gorgeous)! Very well done sir.
Excuse me while I go pout at my fly desk and TRY to copy that.

I am going to tie a few more. The next ones will have Brown hen hackle. Not that Brown will look better, but it's my go to hackle for fishing. Kinda like chicken soup, I cant prove that it works, but my mind thinks it does.
one more turn of Ostritch, and I believe my fly would have turned out perfect.
Awesome technique Ray!
You are my HERO!!!!!

Just inspirational! I just purchased a few new ChartPac colors last week, time to put them to work. The only thing I don't like about Sharpie is they don't make enough colors. I carry a black and light brown one in my fanny pack, in case I need a darker fly and have none.

I love the way Ray and Wayne take each others' tangents and turn them into full-blown trees of creativity. This stuff is truly fun to watch.
