Bumble variation

Post by fishhead » Tue Feb 23, 2016 12:40 am

I found a you tube video of Hans tying a Red Ass Bumble. I made a few changes but I really loved his design on this one and could see myself tying a bunch of variations.

Hook Gamakatsu 50409 size 2
Thread danvilles orange 70 denier and for the head UNI wine 8/0
Tail chartreuse hackle fibers
Tag and rib orange nylon
Body green hairs ear and hackle wooly bugger saddle in light brown
Thorax pheasant tail ice dub
Hackle green hen

Very nice job with the hackles.

Outstanding! I'd fish that in a heartbeat. I think you will be well pleased with this fly.

Hey, man, that's a really nice construction. Beautifully done. It looks like you've either wrapped the hackle in slightly open turns or brought the thread up through the hackle to get the separation. Either way, it looks awesome.

Hay thanks for the comments guys. William, I did both. I did slight open turns when I wrapped the hen hackle and I wrapped the thread through the hackle from the back of the thorax area to the head of the fly.
