Hook: mustad size 18
Thread: UNI chartreuse 8/0
Tag: chartreuse flashabou
Thorax: chartreuse hare
Hackle: starling

I really like these small sparse, minimalistic type flies for winter trout fishing near me. They just seem to be the only thing that will work some days. Only problem I find when fishing these small patterns, the small hook requires too fine a Tippet. Then when I hook a big fish the chances of landing it declines dramatically.

I love the fly!! 8-)

Guide fly simplicity with traditional soft hackle, a touch of dubbing and some modern bling to bring up the rear. For winter fishing I think I will make some in blue as well!

Lovely little fly Dan. The proportions and details are perfection. A fine example indeed! ;)

Agreed. That's a very nice pattern.
