Roadkill,
The opal mirage ads a beautiful glow to the entire fly which is wonderful and I think fools a lot of trout! Your use of mole dubbed ever so lightly on your tying thread and wound up to the eye is great! It gives the body just the right definition across the opal mirage! The Mearns hackle is awesome too with that almost yellowish cast to it. It's a rough and tumble pattern which is sure to kill....everywhere! Beautiful work for sure! Feed us more of your minds creations!

Bill - Are there multiple strands of thread in the rib? As I study the photo, it looks like it may be formed with a double strand loop. I'm curious to hear the details.

Ray

It is touch dubbed in a tightly twisted single thread loop as I learned from Gary LaFontaine many years ago. I believe it has a stronger hold on the sparse dubbing and I wanted the thickness of the color band segmentation. As you know the rib also protects the durability of the Mylar.
