Post by Roadkill » Thu Nov 23, 2017 5:32 pm

The Turkey is in the oven. In between making the mashed potatoes and the sweet potatoes I am making up Cate's Turkeys in a Soft Hackle version...
#14 wet fly hook, tied with black thread
Tail and Hackle -imitation Wood Duck
Body- Mottled turkey fibers
Rib- Small gold wire
Thorax- Peacock herl

I remember looking at this pattern in a Roy Patrick's pattern book early on in my move to WA state. I bought his pattern book in about 1974. Didn't have a clue then on how to fish sub-surface flies. My first one was a green carey special. After that I looked to branch out.

Nicely done, Bill. I am not familiar with this pattern, but yours sure looks like it would fish well.

Nice! Scrawny, but pretty, too. Ought to bring some fish to the line. :D

Looks like an excellent PMD pattern. Deadly looking fly.

Nice multitasking, by the way. :D ;)
