Kinda “jingler-ish” in construction. Very nice. Definitely a fishy pattern (sincere compliment). ;)

Trouty dabbler patt, Scot. I think the 'lough' or 'loch' fly handle is kinda misleading regarding this particular design frame. Though they are fished as lake flies, the design is also fished extensively in Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Scandinavia, as a river fly. In Ireland where it is very popular, you see versions to cover everything from wee mayflies to attracters for Atlantic salmon. These make excellent patts for swinging and Trout Spey. Posted some I tie and fish on Soft~Hackle Journal a couple posts back. Very satisfying to tie and fish.

Stev,

The "lough" term is just a name these flies are bundled under. If I'm in Yellowstone this fall, I'll be swinging them for run-ups from Hebgen.
