The Dotterel Dun

Post by Updtate » Sun Jan 17, 2021 3:13 pm

Hook. Alex Jackson North Country size 13.
Silk. Pearsalls Gossamer orange #6a.
Body. Orange silk.
Hackle. Dotterel I substituted With Eurasian Collared Dove outer covert feather.

I am interested in opinions on the substitution of Dotterel with the Dove. I realize that this may be difficult as I can't imagine that many have seen Dotterel!

I like the looks of the dove hackle. I see an outing to get one or two in the near future.

Tom ,
Great looking fly!
The color is very close, and IMHO it is a good substitute.

Howdy All;

Just the basic question.
Just use the wings or what other sections of feather would be useful and for what?
