Wading the Roaring Fork

Re: Wading the Roaring Fork
What a wonderful piece of water that is! It looks just right for wading, and it obviously holds nice fish. As others have observed, Wayne, you are lucky man! Thank you for letting us enjoy vicariously.

hank & Rascal (oorp), from the road...
Take I-70 back to Utah, and be ready to stop over in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Of the 5 locations I fished yesterday on the Roaring Fork, all but 1 can be accesed by an RV.

Heres the Net Builders that were so prevelant.. The Net builders I encountered were dark all along the top of the back, and a darker shade of Green. I know it's hard to imagine, but my pattern did copy the Net Builders very well in profile and color. The only thing missing from my patterns is, the actual insects were a size 10, and all I had were size 14. Thank goodness I targeted the near sighted, dumb fish.
This is the pattern I used
Hook- Dai-Riki 135 size 14
Thread – 8/0 Uni, Olive
Abdomen – Olive Midge Tubing with a Black Krystalflash core, wrapped over a base of Olive thread.
Thorax- Dark Brown Rabbit , or Black Rabbit fur
Collar – Dark Brown Hen Hackle

Wayne, this is a brilliant thread on all counts. Thanks for sharing your time on the water and this killer pattern. Nicely done.

Goodness sakes, I almost missed the new photos. Terrific additions, Wayne. That caddis dressing is superb.

No, never ever. You would end up slaying the trout on a purple fly. I dont want you to watch me break my fly rod over my knee!letumgo wrote:I sure hope to someday. Are you going to make me use purple flies all day?
Thanks for the comments everyone. I do consider myself blessed to live where I do, and also to have gotten to know so many people on this site!
