Harrop's Ascending Caddis SBS

Tied here as a hydropsyche; change color/size to suit your needs. Bead head is optional for weighting.

hook - Unknown (Daiichi 1140 or 1150?) #16
thread - Danville 6/0 brown
underbody - non-tox .015
rib - x-small wire gold
abdomen - Zelon dubbing hydropsyche
shuck/shellback - marabou brown
hackle - partridge
antennae - woodduck flank
head - dubbing brown


mash barb, wrap non-tox

start thread, tie in rib, wrap to bend

dub thread/dub abdomen to 2/3 mark (part 2 seems to have disappeared into the either)

prep marabou tip; tie in at front of abdomen

pull marabou over back, capture tip with rib, continue up the abdomen, helicopter end, cover with thread; trim tips (gap width)

prep partridge, tie in by tip; wrap, tie off/trim

measure (shank length past bend), tie in 2 woodduck fibers

Can't go wrong with a Harrop pattern. Very nicely done, Scott.
